Michael attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City School of Law, graduating in 1994. He served on the staff of The Urban Lawyer, the National Quarterly Publication on State and Local Government. He was President of the UMKC Student chapter of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys and a member of the UMKC International Moot Court Competition Team.

Michael is admitted to the Missouri and Kansas Bar Associations. He began his practice as a trial attorney in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, and products liability. Michael has successfully argued before the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri and Kansas Courts of Appeals.

Beginning in 2002, Michael served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for Bates County, Missouri, prosecuting DWI offenses, domestic violence cases, and misdemeanor traffic matters.

In 2005, Michael became the Chief Assistant Prosecuting Attorney and Chief Trial Counsel for Cass County, Missouri. Michael prosecuted serious felonies including murder, robbery, burglary, assaults, distribution and possession of narcotics, sex crimes, weapons offenses, forgery, and stealing.

Over the last twelve years, Michael has served as an adjunct professor for several Kansas City metropolitan area colleges, teaching courses in criminal law, business law , American government,  and  state & local politics.

Today, Michael serves Missouri and Kansas as a respected criminal defense attorney, using his considerable experience and skills to assist those accused of committing serious offenses in the Federal, State, and Municipal Courts of Missouri and Kansas.
